Well, I have returned from my semester in Italy (which was great) and finally got to watch some NFL Football. Fortunately, my Cowboys were playing on the NFL Network and I managed to avoid the massacre that was their loss to the Ravens. But despite my personal disgust with the result it has provided us with one more intrigue to what should be a very intriguing NFL weekend.

The other night I met a guy from Canada who is playing basketball here (in Italy). He signed a two month contract with one of the local teams. Basically, he is in the C-league where foreigners get tryouts to see if more prestigious Italian clubs want to sign them.

Basketball is big in Europe and only getting bigger. His room mates are Serbian and Argentinian and I met an Italian guy on his team. They all dream of some day playing ball for big money and are using this as a stepping stone. With that in mind, and recalling that Stephon Marbury is talking about playing ball here in a few years, I got to thinking about a very distinct possibility. What if Kobe Bryant, who lived in Italy for many years, jumped ship next summer and played ball in Italia?

Let me begin by saying that this is historic time for our country. We, like no nation on earth, have demonstrated our ability to overcome a tremendous hurtle in our history. The horrors of slavery can never be corrected. There is no going back and freeing, educating, employing, and empowering those whose lives were destroyed by the “peculiar institution.” However, we have taken a major step in demonstrating that despite our past our future promises hope and no matter how our ancestors arrived their sacrifices have provided us with tremendous opportunity.

With that said, there are some improvements that I expect to see almost immediately and many steps backwards that will come with time. Besides Obama’s historic win one party is now in virtual control of the entire government and that ensures that their agenda and not that of the American people will get pushed through. In the coming months Democrats will see how far they can push their “mandate” and if the Republicans approach is any indication they will push very far indeed and dig us even deeper into the hole.

Specifically, the NFL brand. I got to watch all of one preseason game before embarking on my fall adventure so I am seriously craving some NFL action.

As such, I don’t really know what’s going on in the NFL these days. Sure I can watch highlights, read articles, and follow gametrax but that doesn’t do it justice. I don’t have a “sense” of the league this year. So, I’m turning to you guys to answer some of my personal burning questions:
